TUOHY Furniture Corporation is
one of a select group of businesses in the Upper Midwest to receive Alliant Energy's 2010 Energy Efficiency Award. This recognition is for firms that in the prior year achieved significant energy-efficiency results, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing operating efficiency.
Alliant Energy Corporation, a public utility based in Madison, Wisconsin, states that by working energy efficiency into their construction, design, processes or plant upgrades, these award-winning businesses are lowering their environmental impact while saving a combined 3,403,86215.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per year and another 127,527 therms of natural gas.
These savings result in reducing operational costs for the businesses as well as preventing 2983 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions from escaping into the atmosphere each year – the equivalent to removing 589 passenger vehicles from Minnesota streets and highways for one year.
The award was given to TUOHY as part of Alliant Energy's 2010 Energy Summit.
